We’re delighted to share that Jen Slater, owner of BW Bookkeeping & Project Solutions, was featured in the June 2026 St Neots Rugby Club newsletter as part of their Sponsor Spotlight series.
As a local business, we’re incredibly proud to support organisations that bring people together and make a positive impact within our community. What first drew you to get involved with St Neots Rugby Club as a sponsor?
We were put forward as a solution to the transaction processing
needs of the club, by a local accountancy firm
How long have you been supporting the club, and how has your involvement grown over time?
I met up with Wayne on New Year’s Eve and had a tour of the club and learned the back
ground of the club before starting the process of getting the books up to date from
January 2026
What do you enjoy most about being part of the St Neots Rugby family?
Meeting people who are passionate about both the rugby and supporting the club so
that it becomes stronger is the most enjoyable part – the people involved all seem to be
lovely
From your perspective, what makes St Neots Rugby Club special compared to other community sports clubs?
The club is supported by a lovely group of people, the facility is very large and can offer
flexible hall hire for all sort of events but there is a community feel. The tours and open
days make it much more than just a club from my perspective. The ability to host male,
females and different age groups safely for matches is really impressive too.
How does sponsoring the club benefit your business, and what value do you see in being connected with local sport?
I am hoping to benefit from people in the local area hearing about our business and the
help we give, as I work from home and raising the profile of a small business is not easy
to do.
Have you had any standout moments or memories from your time with the club so far?
I think having a meeting on New Years Day and a chat in the freezing cold car park stick
in my mind so far!
What would you say to other local businesses who might be considering sponsoring or supporting grassroots rugby?
The media is always pushing the idea that young people are obese or getting into
trouble so the rugby clubs are a great facility for helping youths have something positive
in their lives outside of school.
Outside of rugby, what’s something interesting or unique about you or your business that people might not know?
We are all too quick to look at spending our time, money and efforts in large, chain
businesses and it is much more rewarding to focus on something local and in genuine
need of support. We all find it easy to say ‘support local’ but the fact that the club tries to
work with small local businesses is really great.
Finally, what are you most looking forward to in the season ahead with St Neots Rugby Club?
I need to meet more people from the club face to face so that I get to know the team
better – not easy for a shy bookkeeper LOL
